The water bottle (bladder actually) and pillow are some of the things I'm giving away if you buy something. To answer your question, the bladder is going to Margaret but the pillow kits are still available.

I got your package today. Everything is in working order as expected. Do you think I should replace the filter cartridge straight away or does this one have more life in it?

I'm not sure if I understand the engineering behind the Nalgene. With the bladder full the water is in a vacuum. The wide mouth delivers a deluge if you are not careful. I guess its just Nalgene trying to copy Platypus, eh?

The filter has pumped less than 6 liters of clean, Big Sur water so in that respect you should not need to change it. However, said use was back in 1999. I'm not sure if filters lose their potency with time.

Regarding the wide mouth Nalgene bladder, I agree its an odd duck. Given the extra cost and effort required to fill and clean bladders I'm a soda pop bottle convert.
