Overview

WetFire fire starting tinder is a light, tiny way to ensure your safety and survival in even the most challenging conditions.

Made with waterproof, non toxic and odorless materials, WetFire tinder will burn even when floating in a bowl of water. We've used them outdoors in both snow and rain with excellent results. Each package contains 8 individually wrapped cubes that will burn for approximately 5 minutes apiece. The empty or half-full container can also protect other small gear while on trail, so there's no need to throw it away.

To light WetFire, you can set a match or lighter flame to it for approximately 10 seconds, or (the preferred method), create some fine shavings and use a magnesium spark or similar type of firestarter.

WetFire burns at approximately 1,300 degrees F.

Advantages

1. WetFire is so powerful, you probably won't need an entire cube to get a fire going. When starting fires with wet kindling, plan on using an entire cube, or perhaps two if things are really drenched.
2. At 0.2 oz even a SUL backpacker can afford to pack WetFire.
3. Individually wrapped cubes mean that you can take as many or as few cubes along as you need (although this creates a very small amount of trash.)
4. Non-Toxic and odorless.

Limitations

1. These cubes work well, but are not meant to take the place of knowledge, skill and awareness. The best and lightest piece of emergency gear will always be a well-prepared brain.
2. Like Esbit, these cubes are somewhat brittle. Of course, they'll still work if cracked, but take care not to stick them in the bottom of your pack and forget about them for months on end. They'll likely be pulverized when you need them most.
3. Once lit, these cubes burn well, but briefly touching a match or lighter to them will not get them going. Make sure you have the tools to keep a flame in direct contact for a minimum of 10 seconds, or the means to create shavings and deliver hot sparks to ignite the shaven tinder that can subsequently light the entire cube.
