STIX TREKKING POLES CANNOT BE SHIPPED OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES
Nothing can help you take more weight off your feet and increase your overall balance than the distributive effects of well-constructed trekking poles. Yet with all the extra features and bells & whistles of typical models, you may be wishing you had left them at home after the first mile of your hike. With this in mind, we've commissioned an industry leader in carbon fiber ski pole manufacturing to create what we believe the to be the new standard for ultralight mountain hiking: Stix.
From ultralight foam handles, wrist straps, and tip construction, to stiff carbon fiber pole shafts, Stix Trekking Poles offer exceptional stiffness for efficient use and the durability required for severe mountain trekking. Best of all, we did it at a price that isn't quite so dramatic like our pre-2007 Stix models.
Stix Trekking Poles are one-piece, ultra-rugged, ultra-stiff trekking poles designed to maximize power transfer (minimize energy loss) for both trail and off-trail climbing
Stix offer a strength:weight ratio unmatched by other multi-piece trekking poles made of aluminum or carbon fiber, or by non-tapered thin-walled shaft poles, which offer less compressive hoop resistance to bending forces.
Stix shafts are 100% carbon fiber for maximum strength:weight and tapered for optimum swing. These are not wimpy little willow sticks. The carbon fiber shafts make full-strength poles that are both stiffer and stronger (in terms of bending resistance) than other aluminum or carbon trekking poles on the market.
Comment on Single Piece Shafts. The STIX PRO is a single piece pole. Thus, it is nonadjustable. For people who use their poles primarily for trail walking or open country trekking and climbing, they are entirely suitable. If you use poles for setting up shelters, they are terrific when used as tarp poles (although some strategic pieces of duct tape "rings" added along the shaft at ideal heights might be advisable if you want your tarp pitched lower than your pole length; the duct tape rings act as guyline stops). You can also place the pole a little farther from your shelter guyline (towards the stake) to drop the pitch height of your tarp.
Limitations:
Warranty
We do not offer warranty against breakage of carbon fiber shafts, but we can certainly swing good deals on replacement pole sets for you. We do honor warranty against manufacturer's defects in the handle and/or tips. The manufacturer of these poles does warranty the grips and tips against defect (not including breakage). Please contact Backpacking Light's customer service department for info on the manufacturer warranty.
Should you find your poles suffer from a manufacturing defect (grip or tip issues) please contact Komperdell USA:
