This is a full-brimmed hat that works great as a sun-hat, and even provides some warmth when it gets cool or a bit windy.
The top has a mesh panel that ventilates pretty well. It also has an adjustable elastic cord that makes it one-size-fits-all, and allows you to wear it high on your head when its hot, and lower down when windy or to get a little warmth. The chin strap is essential in windy conditions (particularly kayaking).
It is fairly thin compared to Tilley hats, particularly on top. The brim is nice and stiff when dry, but gets a little floppy when wet. Manufacturer claims 4.3 oz, vs. 4.0 for the Tilley LT.
Now for the best part: you can get this hat for under $15 if you look around, as compared to over $60 for the Tilley LT. Thus I was able to purchase five of these for not much more than one Tilley.
Everyone in the family loves them!
