I got these to supplement my aging Golite Synergy pants---they have several things going for them. They are very light, very water resistant and have partial leg zips to ease putting on over shoes or boots. Like it's namesake jacket, it is of welded construction which ups it's very high lever of water resistance. A tight poyester weave and good DWR complete the WR picture. Very wind resistant for softshell, it has a pretty wide comfort range which will accommadate Spring skiing and Summer backpacking both. I judge the material to be pretty tough for it's weight. I'll be taking it off-trail.
These pants are very simple. One thigh pocket (useful for sunscreen, compass, or knife). Non-gusseted crotch. Elasticized waist with a cord-locked shock-corded drawstring----this is the worst aspect of the pants. It tends to slip and the elastic waist seems flimsy. To surgery it will go----I'm installing a grosgrain web belt w/ center release buckle.
I will give this a 4 minus, as is. It would be higher rated if it came w/ a belt and if there were provision for further adjustment of the pant cuffs. A couple of slash pockets wouldn't hurt, either.
