Born into the world of endurance and mtn. bike racing the joystick crosses over nicely for weekend or longer [w/solar charger] wilderness trips. At 85 gms. it is a few grams lighter then a surefire executive elite and 22 gms. lighter then a aa minimag light w/lithium batteries. The light is 28mm in diameter and 108mm long. Because its designed for bike racing it throws a usable beam well down the trail. A 3 watt luxeon sled [super led] is powered by rechargable lithium-ion batteries. The spot beam throws a usable light of 100 feet down the trail on high, about a third less on low. The led is nearly indestructble compared with hid lamps. There are three settings available by double clicking the "on" button. High, low, and strobe. Burn times of 2 1/2 hrs, 7 1/2 hrs., and days for each setting. The light comes with a helmet mount and the light has a small lanyard hole on the back for hanging. It is easily rigged for hiking use on a shoulder strap with a heavy duty rubber band. Pros: Cannot be accidently turned on Beam pattern lights well down the trail Led has a lifetime warranty Strobe function handy for rescue situations You could also use this light for cycling ... Cons: The $249.00 price tag keeps this from being a 5. Recharge time required.
