Very bright spot light. However, after hiking with this light for 4 hours in the rain, I noted quite a bit of water behind the lens. Customer service said that there was no claim the unit was waterproof, and they wouldn't replace it. I think the the BASIC level of funcitoning of any outdoor lighting product is a degree of waterproofness that can handle say... rain, bottom line.
