This is the best light-weight down jacket I know of. I own a Montbell Alpine Down jacket as well - the Alpine is also 800 down but much bulkier due to baffle construction vs Phantom sewn-thru, Alpine is heavier, seemingly has moore down fill BUT the Phantom is lighter, substantially WARMER and wind-proof to boot. I think the Phantom wins this comparison on all counts. I also had a Sherpa Thyangboche jacket (750 down and 17 ounces) to compare to the Phantom's 800 down and 13 ounces. The Phantom is lighter and much warmer and windproof (the Sherpa is not windproof). Moral: don't believe most manufacturer's claims of down fill power...most are not true..but I think at least in the case of the Phantom it is true. Last point, the Phantom will stuff into a smaller stuff-sack than either of the other 2 jackets mentioned and will also regain its full loft faster after being more compressed - mark of superior down.
