Rating: 5 / 5
Suggested Use: Late Spring thru early Fall.
Weight ratio: While these pants are probably on par with other convertible pants I typically would carry a seperate pair of shorts and wear long pants while walking. These will negate the need to carry an additional piece of clothing.
Material: Very durable, incredible water repellancy, and a slight stretch (I believe multi-directional). There is also a small amount of something woven into the fabric to prevent static build up, which can be common with synthetic fabrics.
Fit: Pretty high rise on the crotch makes them better for walking. A 10" inseam on the shorts offers more coverage when in short-mode (which I prefer over the short shorts look). All pockets are zippered so I am not double checking that something has fallen out. Ankle zips offer extra versatility for removing legs without taking off shoes.
Craftsmanship: May be the best made clothing that I currently own. Details like extra material in the inside ankle to prevent wear and a beyond average water repellancy shows the effort to go the extra mile...and hence the $135 price tag which may be the only negative for those not willing to pay what is probably 30% more than similar pants offered by other manufacturers. I was however able to find them on Ebay in the off season for about half full retail.
