This softshell uses GORE windstopper laminate, has welded seams that are waterproof, pitzips, pocket vents, napolean pocket with earphone port all with water resistant zippers. Has an attached hood that is very ajdustable, laminated VELCRO cuff adjustment and draw cords at the hem. The hem is on the shorter side though it provides plenty of coverage. It's cut for climbing. The inside is lined with a light flannel material. The fit is athletic with enough room to layer a fleece. The construction seems like it is of very high quality. I found the material to shed snow and rain very well. It also breathes very well, comparable to the eVENT pants I paired it with for my snowsports. Ventilation is excellent with pitzips and mesh front pockets. After using this jacket day in and day out for snowshoeing, snowboarding, bike commuting and around town, I've found the durability to be an issue. The outer shell is pilling where the straps of my pack run and it began to delaminate at all the welded zippers. MHW has warranteed the jacket and now I'm in search of a new soft shell because they are out of stock on this one. I would get another Torch Jacket if I was confident in the durability of the zipper welds. The weight is 17.8 oz in Medium. Not bad for a soft shell.
