It weighs 2.7 ounces. It would be hard to get much lighter and still be a hat. It is made of their Ventia fabric, a 3-layer 50 denier ripstop, lined with what they call a midweight polyester mesh. It is seam-taped and sealed. It has a chin cord with toggle to keep it on during wind. Otherwise, being so light it might just float up up and away. The official front has a brim that is shorter than the back but I use it the other way around to help keep rain off my glasses. This hat is exactly what I need for occasions when I don't want to wear the hood of my poncho, for various reasons, and for sun protection, without adding appreciably to the weight of my load. This hat looks nice to my taste. The brim is not as wide as some on the market. I got it in "lichen", a very pleasing and low-key sage green. Please note this hat seems to run small; you may want to order up.
