The Volt is in essence Rab's lightweight full mountain jacket made from Pertex Shield Plus 2.5 layer fabric. The fit is the same as the majority of rab's range of waterproofs. Rab claim a weight of 360g for medium.

Features: The volt features a total of 3 pockets, all of which are capable of holding a folded map. there are plenty of venting options, with the main zip, mesh lined "handwarmer" pockets and pit zips. The hood is capable of fitting over a climbing helmet.

In use: Dispite a lower hydrostatic head than the likes of Gore-tex and eVent fabrics the Shield fabric used on the volt has so far proven to be highly effective even in heavy rain. When the outer fabric does eventually fully wet out you can see it on the inside due to the transparent membrane.
The fabric is a cool with little inherent insulating properties unlike eVent which in my experience traps some heat making the volt a great jacket for warm and wet conditions.

Faults: The only issue I have had is the webbing that holds on the rear hood cordlock has unravelled however this is not critical as the cordlock cannot fall off. The same has happened with the webbing used to hold one half of the hood roll clip.
