This stove is very reliable and seems to be very efficient when used with a wind screen. (Be careful, of course, not to lower the wind screen enough to reflect heat back onto the canister)
The low simmer setting is actual still a tiny bit hot to avoid overflow if boiling anything other than pure water.
I have discovered, however, that if you prop an item against the knob or heat setting handle, that you can get it to simmer very very low. And when used with a wind screen, usually won't boil over.
I use the stove with a Snow Peak Solo Ti kit, I am able to fit two canisters in the pot and the stove in its case ontop in the mesh sack along with my Ti spoon. Quite a copmact and versitile solo or duo kitchen for medium to medium long trips.
