I recently bought a tent from Sierra Designs. I set it up in my backyard when a storm rolled through to test it out. It leaked everywhere. I sealed the supposedly taped seams and it leaked again. I emailed Sierra Designs about the problem and they immediately sent me a response aplogizing and stating that wasn't normal. They asked for my address and sent me a prepaid FedEx shipping label. They tested the tent, concluded that the laminate was defective and sent me a new tent free of charge. This is EXCELLENT customer service, especially from a larger company. I will definitely consider them again based on this experience. BTW, the new tent is great.

A number of years ago I pulled out my SD Dome tent right before a camping trip (original model, very light 4-season 3-person tent for 1980, under 7 lbs) and found that the shock cords in the poles had relaxed and no longer were elastic. The tent was about 15 years old by then.

Called SD and they rushed me a new set of poles and just asked that I return the old ones when I got back from my trip.

The tent is now 32 years old and I still use it for car camping (and maybe winter camping if I ever go again). I've recoated the floor and rain fly a few times over the years.
