I had carried my LuxuryLight external frame backpack for the most of the 2005 season when I slipped and slid 8 feet down a creek bank. The pack frame took my 200 lb. load plus the 26lbs. in the pack. The vertical frame tubes were very slightly bent and had some minor scratches. I continued to carry the pack for all my 2006 trips. On a 10 day trip in October 2006 the heavy load I carried caused the curved, horizontal bottom tube, to break loose and it began roataing, allowing the pack frame tubes to poke me in the butt. The "Hook" hip belt I was using also began delaminating from the load.

I emailed Bruce Warren of LuxuryLight and he instructed me to send him the pack and hip belt. In a few weeks I recieved a brand new, reinforced, pack frame and a new, redesigned, hip belt. Bruce included a personal Christmas greeting and a note that he appreciated my input on his pack's reliability and added that his equipment was guaranteed against manufacuring defects for life.

I bought a LuxuryLite Condor pack system from Bruce at the end of November last year. I didn't really get a chance to get out and try it properly until Christmas. On this 8 day trip I found there were certain aspects of the system that didn't really work for me, but by then the 30 day money back guarantee had technically expired. No problem. After many emails which must have taken Bruce a long time to compose, we agreed that I would send back the parts I didn't want, and Bruce would refund me for those parts as well as send me a modified hipbelt. I consider this to be customer service of the most exceptional kind, and can't recommend buying from this company enough.

As a result, I also now have a pack system that I absolutely love....

I tried one of the very early versions of the LuxuryLite packs. This was a very cool pack and I loved the "recliner feature". Alas, I never got fully comfortable with the pack, though I should note that I have never found an external frame pack that was really comfortable so i don't think this was a specific design issue with LuxuryLite but rather with external frame packs. So I decided to return the pack. Bruce's counter offer was that he sent me a full refund and offered to let me hold onto the pack for while he continued to work on improving the pack. Over the next few months Bruce sent me a number of updated he was considering. In the end it was clear that for whatever reason the pack wasn't working for me and I mailed the pack back to Bruce because I thought his time would be better spent on someone else. All the interactions were friendly and helpful. It was fun to talk with Bruce who clearly likes getting outside the box.
