Not exactly ultra light in its double wall configuration, we consider this our one luxury item when light-packing for two or three. Worth every cubic inch in a rainout, a great value anyway you cut it. I weighed it at just under 6lbs with the footprint. I get to carry it, but the person who really loves our new tent is “The Mrs”, this is the perfect honeymoon tent after twenty years of marriage. Drop the mosquito netting and go with the footprint and rain fly to drop a few more pounds. Between the two of us, we don’t mind the weight in either configuration. You can peg out the skirt of the fly away from the bathtub floor for great airflow, it has cool eyelid vents that Velcro prop-open as needed. The aluminum structure is bombproof, if not slightly asymmetrical front to rear, I guess it has radial symmetry, but is very sturdy in the wind and pouring-down rain. Weight is cut from the pole structure by only having one of the three poles go corner to corner all the way to the ground, the other two only touch the ground with one end, the other ends connecting to grommet straps sewn into the upper corners of the tent fabric. With its high bathtub line, this tent is bone dry in a heavy rain, very comfortable. The rain-fly is laid out diagonally with a white fabric panel that matches the white ceiling panel on the tent screen, this makes for a bright skylight or moonlight…everybody knows; day or night, it’s all about the light. Pockets all over the place and lots of room for her stuff, can you say, “peace in the valley”? Here’s a tip: make this baby breathe, use all six of the tent pegs to guy out the tarp, creating an airfoil, don’t bother pegging down the four corners of the footprint and screen inside. I’m thinking of tricking this thing out with some new titanium pegs and lightweight reflective guy lines…luxury.
