Manzella Silk Weight Windstopper All-Season Glove on 12/20/2006 11:36:04 MST Report Post Print

I got these gloves a few months ago and they have proven to be a great 4 season glove (wonderful as a base in my winter glove system). In the past for three season use, I have worn wool liner gloves and would carry lightweight rain mitts to supplement in bad conditions. With these gloves, I no longer need the 2 glove system as they are water resistant and surprisingly warm even when soaking wet due to their wind resistance. My scale at home shows a size medium at 1.5 oz which is plenty LW in my book. Additionally they provide great dexterity and fit is very comfortable. One thing that always used to drive me crazy with standard liner gloves was lack of gripping power. Manzella has applied a great grid rubber grip that has proven to be both durable and highly helpful for extending the usefulness of the glove. My only gripe would be the inside seam stitching. By no means do they go unnoticed like in many other gloves I have owned in the past. At several points I found myself trying to trim down the seams just to relieve a sore spot after a long day. While I am slowly getting accustomed to this small amount of discomfort, this is still the most versatile glove I have ever owned.

These have replaced my liner gloves since I discovered them. The reason? They are almost as light and totally windproof. The windproof characteristic makes them MUCH warmer than a glove of comparable weight without the windstopper. I ended up buying a women's large in these gloves because they fit my hand better. I concur that the interior stitching was initially an annoyance but now I don't even notice it. I appreciate the addition of a sticky grid of gripper material on the palm and fingers but have found the durability of this grid less than ideal. It is beginning to come off in spots and I am concerned about the long term durability of them. However, for their weight and windproofness I have to give them four stars. When I wear this pair out I will buy another. Recommended.
