I've never used a wind shell before, but bought this one because I thought it looked like good value and didn't want to spend the money on the Patagonia Houdini. I got the XL Tall and it is 158 g or 5.5 oz on my scale. The jacket seems much more breathable than my event rain shell. i don't know about water resistance but I'm guessing it'll be good for only very light drizzle. I like the Eddie Bauer stuff because I can get size tall (I'm 6'1'').
