I have climbed on these crampons for three seasons now and, having tried many others, am convinced they are, hands down, the best all-around crampon available today. The stainless steel is so much easier to deal with than standard chromoly. Any coating will eventually wear off and you'll be stuck painting or cleaning and oiling your crampons after each outing. Not so with these stainless steel crampons. Low maintenance all the way. I did do one modification to mine that made it more user friendly and quick for me to use. I eliminated the front retaining strap toe loop and trimmed the strap down. Now the strap just runs around my ankle. I have never had a problem with these popping off no matter what crampon compatible boots I wear. The fine-tuning knob on the back of the rear bail and length adjustment are easy to operate with gloves on and makes these a perfect fit for every boot and the strap release and tension system is much less fiddly than grivel or petzl. The antibot plate on the bottom is as effective as I have seen at eliminating snow ball-up. I highly recommend these for any snow or ice use. I have used them on steep ice (WI4+), glaciers, and easy snow approaches and they perform well in all these venues.
