I recently looked at packs for some over night hiking. I tried the REI Flash 30, Montbell versalite 50, SMD Swift, GG Miniposa and Osprey exos 34. At 23 pounds the Osprey is by far the most comfortable and has great ventilation hiking from the 4 to 9 mile test hikes in 30 to 60 degree temps. The side pockets take Platy 1L bottles very well. I put a 3L Platy in the inside pouch. The outside pouch takes wet or change items easily. There are many small straps for compression and the top lid. The waist belt clip is very small, I don't know how it will hold up. For me 34L is the size for one or two nights out. It is heavy at 2 pounds but the rest of my gear is light enough that I can enjoy the comfort using this pack.
