My wife and I went on this 3 day light backpacking trip and it was absolutely awesome. It was from 9/18/09 to 9/20/09. I have to say that what made the trip were the instructors. Sam H. and Mike C. were fantastic. They were always professional, humorous and genuinely interested in imparting the students with light backpacking concepts.

The group size was perfect and everybody received individual attention when it came down to determining what we would be taking with us on the adventure. Plus to my surprise the food was delicious. I really never imagined that couscous could taste so good (way to go Mike)!
If you get an opportunity to take this course and Mike C. and Sam H. are the instructors, I highly recommend that you take advantage and book it.

I agree with Rick's comments. The area was beautiful (Paradise Valley), the route was a challenging mix of trail and off-trail hiking, we were effectively taught a large number of topics in a short period of time, and the instructors were superb. Mike C! and Sam H. had complimentary teaching styles that worked very well together. With the skills that I learned on this course I am confident that I can go on a 4-day UL backpacking trip on the Superior Hiking Trail this summer with my son.

Now if I could just learn how to cook. . . Perhaps BPL could start a ULCIA - UltraLight Culinary Institute of America.

Thanks, Mike and Sam!
