Quick version: did everything right.

Long version:
I ordered a Mont-Bell UL Down Inner Jacket and a bunch of climbing harnesses from in September 2009. had excellent prices for both. I placed my order on Tuesday afternoon. On Thursday afternoon, I got an email from UPS informing me that my order was in their possession. I received the correct order.

Of course the Mont-Bell UL Down Inner was too small, so I had to return it for one size up. customer service was very friendly and understanding. They happily gave me a return number, immediately threw the new jacket in the mail, and quickly refunded my CC when they received the return. The only shipping I had to pay was the return shipping. did everything right, and made my purchase and return as painless as possible.

I purchased a Black MontBell Down Inner Parka (on sale for $117) via their online store. It was around 8pm CST, so their physical store was closed. I received both a call and email the next morning saying the Black model had been discontinued (2008 model) and they system should not have let me purchase it. I would need to call the store to either cancel my order or select a different jacket for a discounted price.

I immediately called back and was greeted with a very helpful and apologetic employee (I think it was Andy). He explained what happened and asked me what I wanted to do. He checked the stock of the Olive color for the parka (2009 model) and found one he would sell me - for the same price as I was originally going to pay.

"Our mistake is your gain." is what he told me. Talk about good customer service!

We chatted about the jacket for awhile and then hung up. It was shipped within hours.

This incident has made me a loyal customer. Even if their price for an item happen to be a little higher, I think the service that backs the products is well worth it.

I purchased the Vargo canister stove from them at a GREAT price. They had such a run on sales because of the low price that is was sold out. They left me a personal phone message letting me know that it would be a few days before they got new stock and I could cancel the order if I wanted. I had no desire to cancel, and I wouldn't have even noticed the difference in how long it took if they hadn't called. Half the companies out there take that much time to ship anyway!

I received a phone call from a warm body, not an automated message. And it was only for a 2-3 day delay. They are my new favorite company. :-)

Just wanted to note the great customer service I got with Campsaver. I bought a sleeping bag a couple of months ago, and unfortunately some of the threads were coming loose. I sent a note to Campsaver to find out what my options were. Andy got back to me right away (on a Sunday no less) and worked with me to make the process of returning the bag as straightforward and simple as it could possibly be. Really happy with my experience, and will buy from Campsvaer again in the future!

Yeah, I have to go the other way on these guys. I ordered a jacket on clearance and they are the only ones that have it for that price. I paid for 2nd day shipping. I get an email 3 days later saying they deposited a few cents into my credit card account and I had to know it protect them and myself from fraud. Out of about 40 to 50 online orders, this is the first time that I ever heard of this. I email them every day saying that I am sitting here looking at my credit card account and as of today, it is no longer "pending" it has gone through and I have paid them. They have my money, they refuse to ship the products. My credit card company has not emailed me back about this "ghost" deposit that is not showing up. That is the biggest joke that I have ever gone through! If I was a thief, don't you think I would have bailed out by now and not kept contacting them each day? They told me they would send it next day air when I can tell them the "ghost" deposit. Why? I've already been waiting 7 days. Sorry to be cold but this is a true case of not believing your customers are legit. But hey, great prices,right?

With Chris on this one. Ordered 2 items a few weeks ago (WPB pants and wind pants), both of which are pretty hard to find at the moment. Order went through, Campsaver charged my account and took hold of the money. A week later no package at my door (should have been there sooner than that). I called them to see what was up- "oh, those are backordered. It will take about 3 weeks to get". Never received a call or email stating that, yet they charged me. I will give them this- they offered for me to find comparable products for a discount. I couldn't find anything that I felt comparable so I cancelled my order and purchased elsewhere. Too bad I needed that gear for a trip... Refund was quick though. Overall I've had good experience with them but what really burns my butt is the fact that I ordered over the phone and was told these items were in stock. Mix in the fact I wasn't notified of the opposite truth and they charged me. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. I just really don't like businesses that do that...

I found these guys were completely hopeless unfortunately. After getting out the jacket I bought from CampSaver for a weekend hiking trip I found it is was an XL and not the medium as ordered on the invoice. This is the only online company I have ever shopped with (and I buy pretty much everything online) that has shipped two out of two orders incorrect. Customer service was also very poor, my emails took a long time to be answered and were given one line answers that tried to avoid the questions I was asking.

I'm sorry that others have had issues with CampSaver recently. I just had an excellent, hassle free experience, buying an Evernew 500mL mug, using their 2-day shipping. I started by calling them up, immediately got through, and spoke with a very courteous customer rep who confirmed they had the mug in stock and there would be no issues shipping it. I then placed my order online, and received it two days latter. It was packaged well and arrived undamaged. I was very happy with the purchase, and with their July 4th sale, it was the best price I could find.
