I'm surprised that more people don't use and/or know about these. My pants weigh 6.5oz size medium and fit over my shoes. They have button snaps at the ankle to allow for 2 different sizes besides 'fully open'. I've used these since 2002 adn one pair last for a thru-hike. After a few years, the tape for the taped seams begins to peel, but that can be expected for the use I put them through.
