At 37.7 oz and a 900ci capacity the Bearikade Expedition bear canister is a excellent product. A little pricey but the Bearikade will pay for itself in time beating the weight and inner capacity of the rental canisters used at most National parks. Most park bear canister weight between 2 1/2 and 3 lbs with only 600ci capacity. The Expedition is lighter and a little longer which makes it a great camp chair also. It has two screw locks that a penny can be used to open easily. I have packed the Bearikade Expedition in my Golite Jam and my ULA P-2 quite easily over the years. Highly Recommended!!!! Worth every dollar!!!!

First, I'll round out the product info of the first review with the dimensions: 9" dia. by 14". Pricey is an understatement. I surveyed bear canisters (see below) and this canister is the most expensive one out there, both in total cost and cost per cubic inch. That said, it is also the lowest weight per cubic inch by a wide margin and hiking light is what this site is all about. No complaints from me on this one.

Among other trips, I carried my Bearikade from the northern end of Glacier to the southern end and was totally pleased with it. Of course, no one likes carrying a bear canister, but at least this one is lighter, and it exudes quality. I had mine made up custom in a 12" length (no extra charge) about 6 years ago. Never regretted it.

One more fan of the Expedition. In addition to the above mentioned "camp chair" capability which I love, it also works perfectly as an extra "cylinder" on a Luxury Lite pack thereby not consuming any pack volume.
