I hike and climb in the High Sierra and around Tahoe. In 2007 I bought my first quilt, a Specialist, and I was hooked. After some cold early-winter nights in the teens, I realized I could survive with an even lighter bag. I ordered an Edge for 2008, with 1oz. (20%!) overfill. The Edge is VERY narrow and the footbox is VERY tight. Its shape is truly minimalist. Luckily I'm a thin guy. The tighter and more compressed fit took some getting used to. I cannot get full coverage when I lay on my side with bends in my hips and knees. However, most nights this isn't an issue, as I really only need full coverage when it's really cold. In which case I can lay straight, tighten the whole rig down, and I'm fine. I usually wear BPL Cocoon pants and hoody while sleeping, and this year I again found some nights in the teens, and while I would hesitate to say I was warm, I would also not call it suffering. I love my Edge, as much as I love the idea that I'm caring a 12oz bag that is smaller than my lunch. If you are looking for luxury, get a Specialist or Alpinist, if you are looking for tolerable and super-ultra-light, it's the Edge.
