I've never wanted the clutter of having a vacuum sealer but was tempted by this very small model. Pretty neat tool and the one quart bags work well for making your own "MRE" type meals. Compared with a standard ziplock, the bags look about the same but you can get way more air out of them with the flashlight-size pump. For a weeks worth of meals the volume reduction could be significant, and thus allow more room in the pack.
Pros: Low cost sealer, 2 bag sizes available--quart & gallon. Works pretty darn good--sucked down a bag of Cheeto's until you could hear them crunching!
Cons: Have to buy the special (Reynolds) bags.
Tip: You can get a stronger vacuum if you slightly dampen the sealing surfaces (ziplock & suction port).
