Its cheap, is made of wool that keeps you warm when wet, cuts wind really well...FAR better than synthetic fleece hats, its super rugged and takes any amount of abuse. Its not made of merino wool, but who cares. Ive used this as my primary winter hat since I was a teenager on winter backpacking trips in the eighties. Why should I change?
