I have been doing my winter sleeping in a WM Flight jacket and Montbell down pants for a few seasons now. Saw a thread on multi-use gear involving the ARC AT and the responses to my gear informed me that a down blanket would be much more comfortable and warmer than down pants. Had to find out.
I'm not a big person. Just 5' 7" so the 3/4-length quilt in a small size hits me right at the armpits. Got the 7oz. version in "brick red". Wow!!!
The package arrived just before Christmas and was small enough to fit in my mailbox. Good sign.
I opened it and carefully checked all of the stitching. Everything looks great as far as craftmanship is concerned! Came in at a feather over 7oz on my scales. Footbox is more than adequate and dimensions are exactly as advertised.
Used it as a nap blanket for a week. "No honey, I'm not taking a nap - I'm just doing some product testing". Even though I am a side sleeper, it had adequate coverage with no drafts.
Took it to a State Park in Central Texas for two nights this last week. Low temps were right at freezing. With my possumdown socks, WM Flight jacket, silk bottoms and an REI skullcap all contained within a Montbell sleeping bag cover I stayed toasty all evening. Woke up around 3 a.m. and was still warm! I'm a convert!
Small weight, small packed size, fine craftsmanship, superb performance. This product just screams for a "5".
