I have used a few silnylon tarps including rectangle, catenary, square, a "Ray-Way" and poncho. Of these I believe the Oware 2.5 square tarp is by far the best available.
It is barely 9 ft. square and just under a pound after seam sealing. You can easily sleep 2 people with all their gear or 3 people with some gear.
I had an extra guy loop added in the center along the ridgeline. This tarp allows for the most versitile setups with 21 total guyloops.

You will not find a more flexible shelter.
Square shape and multiple well placed tie-outs means more pitch options than most shelters.

9'x9' means big enough for a variety of conditions.

One or more people depending on pitch and conditions.
