Nice little piece of headgear here. Impressive how much warmth it adds when on your head.

My typical setup is wearing a Tilly hat during an entire trip and adding the balaclava when I need some warmth underneath it. I also wear it to sleep if I need the additional warmth.

As an added bonus, it fits very nicely under my bicycling helmet.

I use this year round and find it to be one of my most versital pieces of clothing. From summer folded up as a hat to winter under a warmer balaclava. Along with my Patagonia Houdini jkt and pants it never leaves my pack.

I love Icebreaker products however I found the fit on this item disappointing. One size does not fit all! I spent an entire afternoon constantly pulling the fabric back up over my nose as the fit was too large. I have since washed the item in warm water and dried with heat but have not yet used it, opting instead to take either my Cloudveil silkweight or an old North Face microfleece.

This was my first Icebreaker product and the quality of the wool convinced me to get their 140 tech T. Luckly mine fits me pretty well except the opeaning makes a slight tunnel when its up over your nose. The tunnel goes away completly when its down near your mouth. Another thing I noticed was that the fabric didn't stink after a day of breathing through it like the polar fleece one I use for snowboarding. It deserves a 4.5 so I'll give it a 5 to bump up the average rating.

This thin balaclave effectively makes any wool shirt into a hoody. As the reviewer notes, works well under Tilley hat. Insufficient for preventing earache on its own; either needs a windshirt hood or earmuffs worn over it. On me the opening tends to constantly ride up over my lower lip and needs to be pulled down on my chin.
