Excellent high mountain Summer-weight baselayer made of LW 148 weight merino wool. Zip neck allows for nice ventilation and zips up to a med. high collar when things chill off. Seams are low profile and don't chafe. This is a garment of first rate construction. Cut long enough and has a drop tail for we of the longer torsoed tribe. All the anti-microbial qualities of wool so one can live in this for a week and still roll into that post trip restaurant without offending your fellow diners.

Men's L weighs in at 6.9 oz. This baselayer is in a weight and design set that Ibex and Icebreaker have missed---their similar offerings being heavier and warmer. The Smartwool Microweight Zip-T uses only a slightly heavier wool but has a higher neck which I think is not as comfortable as the Patagonia model.

The only real improvement I would suggest for the Zip LS would be thumbholes to help keep sleeves in place during high aerobic and mobility sports.

All in all, a very versatile baselayer that I can use alone or with other layers. I give the shirt a 4.5.

I purchased this item last year and find it to be my long sleeve zip shirt of preference.

The collar height is perfect (not too high, almost like a mock turtle). It smelled neutral after 3 days of wear, and held it's shape well.

The knit on the sides and up the underside of sleeves is a ribbed knit, and somehow seems to work well.

Also appreciate the small rubber end on the end of the zipper pull, a nice touch.

I go to this shirt before any of my other long sleeve synthetics.

Owned a wool 2 shirt for a few mos. before I noticed holes in the sleeves and back. I stiched these and wore it some more. Another hole on the sleeve and back to the Patagonia store it went. They gave me a new one. I love this shirt!

The Patagonia Wool 2 zip is a great baselayer for hiking or trail running. It wicks very well, smells fine after A LOT of use, is comfortable to wear and has a great zipper. It also is not chilly after stopping like a lot of synthetic baselayers. I have worn mine heavily for the past year and it still looks great. In addition, Patagonia doesn't use chlorine to soften their wool so it is better for the environment than its competitors. It is a super itch-free, high-performing baselayer.

Extremely comfortable and durable. Material seems thin, but is surprisingly warm in camp. It also seems to dry quickly although I have never completely soaked the shirt (I have worn it while running and sweating heavily--and in one small rainstorm).

A good buy if you are willing to spend the money.

The versatility of this shirt is why I wear through one every year or two. Patagonia also replaced my last shirt.

The lightweight, black quarter zip and qualities of wool make this shirt part of most all my adventures.

From high mountains in the summer to layering in the fall/winter or just wearing around the house day in and day out...this shirt gets more use than any other shirt in my household. The wear is showing for sure.

If it doesn't get replaced again though I might get the bpl hoody for the fall/winter coming up. It's an expensive shirt at retail but well worth it.

Highly recommended.

My Paty Wool 2 is one of my top choices when I expect the temps to be moderate (60-40 degrees F range).
It dries pretty fast and resists odor well. Haven't had any issues with piling, though I do wear a windshirt or rain jacket over it most times.
