I like this shirt for hiking in temperatures in the 50s to 60s range. For temperatures lower than that (40s and below) I don't like this shirt because I start to get cold in it. For temperatures in the 40s and below I have a Mountain Hardware wind shirt that is super, but the Mountain Hardware shirt is too warm for hiking in temperatures in the 50s and above. The Wisp is also VERY fragile. Don't even think about wearing it in brush and briars or you will have a shredded shirt in short order. But I love the Wisp on maintained trails in the previously stated temperature range. In the stated temperature range, the Wisp provides all the well-known benefits of good wind shirts. I gave the Wisp a 4 rating because of the limitaions in temperature range and substandard durability. I would actually only give it a 3 if I were only considering its durability.

I almost always take my Wisp spring-fall for all sorts of outdoor activities. It is really water repellant and not super breathable which is what I usually want from a wind shirt. Even if it starts raining hard the fabric does not soak up lots of water so it will dry quickly later. My only complaint is the zipper which is way too short. The zipper is mostly a problem for putting it on and off; I sometimes struggle with it because it is so short and the fabric does not stretch. If this had a zipper 2/3 of the height it would be a 5. As for durability the fabric looks light but has no major signs of wear after lots of use.

I've had the Wisp for almost 4 years now, mine is a slightly different fabric from what I can tell. At 2.3 oz in a fist sized package it is a lot of weather protection for the weight.

The Golite Wisp Shirt is in my top 5 favorite pieces of gear. It is one of the lightest wind shirts available. I use this shirt in summer trips where temps don't drop below 50, and I have used on trips with day time temps in the 30's. I have worn it thru in hail, snow, and light rains, and the best part is, in varying conditions when the sun is off and on, you don't get very hot, as you would in a rain jacket. Another great feature is the pocket which the jacket stores itself in, this is an important feature for wind gear, which you can end up taking off and on several times throughout the day in varying conditions.

For a XL size at 3.5oz the Wisp is perfect for 3 season backpacking. I have use the same Wisp w/ hood for the past 3 seasons. Bug proof,water resistant and feels good on the skin. I took the elastic bands out of the wrist so that the Wisp can breathe easier with air-flow. Too each is there own comfort level. Golite was one of the first on the UL seen and still makes great products. Highly Recommended.

I find this windshirt to be rather clammy feeling, and the fit to be poor. There are better windshirts.
