I usually wear a large but the extra large was a better fit for me. The large fit well in the fingers but the palm was a little tight and stressed the seam at the base of the thumb. The XL also gave me room for a thin liner. On my scale the XL weighs 6.6 oz./pair or 187 g.
I used these downhill skiing this season in temps from about -10°F to 30°F and in winds up to 30 mph. They have a wide comfort range as things made with wool tend to do. -10°F was pushing it a little and a liner would have been nice if I had been carrying one at the time, but it wasn't required.
The fabrics used and the construction of these gloves is all top notch. The Pittards leather is amazing, it grips almost like bare skin. To say that the thumb wipe fabric is soft, is an understatement. Snow doesn't stick to any part of the gloves. The side release clip for attaching the gloves to one another is small and strong. I do not expect the durability of these gloves to be an issue but I will revisit my review if it becomes one.
My old gloves are now backups to these. These are now my gloves of choice for temps below freezing.
