When it comes to a standard 8x10 silnylon tarp, I doubt there's much difference between any of the brands. The important things seem to be: webbing tieouts and a seam that runs lengthwise, with additional tieouts in the interior panel of the tarp, and that everything is seam-sealed. The bearpaw has all these.

A distinguishing characteristic of this tarp is probably the arrangement of the tieouts, this tarp comes with 5 tieouts in the interior panel and the 12 perimeter tieouts are asymmetrical. this is best understood by looking at the diagram on the website:

Extra tie-outs or custom arrangements are possible too.
The webbing tieouts are perfectly sized to slip snugly over the end of a trekking pole. Comes with stuff sack.

At $95, it's the least expensive quality 8x10 siltarp I've seen. And John of BearPaw has excellent service: I needed the tarp for a trip I was doing in four days. He called back in 20 minutes and shipped the tarp express for me.

My only criticism would be that the stitching isn't the best. On the ridgeline seam, there were a few wonky stiches where perhaps the thread ran out and was doubled up. I don't think it's going to affect durability or performance, but could be improved.

Overall, a recommended product.
