All 3 varieties of Big Sur Bars are delicious. They taste like a soft, healthy cookie and remain soft when the temp drops (although like all bars they will freeze).
They also pack 680 calories into a 5 oz bar for a very good 136 calories per ounce.
The downside to this caloric density is that they're so good, you'll want to eat the whole bar. Watch out though because 680 calories in one sitting equals a very full stomach!
The only real downside to a Big Sur Bar is that they'll only keep for a couple of weeks outside of the freezer. Of course, this is a result of Big Sur not using a lot of preservatives (a real bonus) but this does limit their usefulness on extended hikes.
Still, with an all natural ingredient list like this, I'm willing to make a few small compromises: Oats, flour, almonds, pecans, raisins, coconut, semi-sweet chocolate chips, brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter, eggs, honey, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder.
A big 5 for Big Sur Bars!
