Hi, my name is Phillip from the east coast of Australia. Since I started hiking again in the past year, I've struggled with finding a Hiking shoe/boot that will fit my wide feet. I've tried many shoes, spending vast amounts of money on different hiking shoes, with no success. If I choose a shoe that fit's me length there to narrow, If I choose a shoe to fit my foots width there to long, causing agonising blisters on my heels.
I've struggled for the past year with my feet. forced to cut short a 4 day hiking trip in the past few months because of the pain caused to my feet, from what I thought where good fitting shoes. I lost two toe nails from that encounter. I went online on the Local Bushwalking Forums here in Australia asking for advice, Try two socks, Try taping, Use this tape, Use that tape. Tried them all with no success. I had to resort to wearing thongs or Crocs.
Than one day a few weeks ago, I received an email from a hiker, known on this forum here as I believe his one of the gear testers. by the name of Roger, Last year Roger done a review of Mid lightweight hiking shoes for those with wide feet. Roger told me in the email, I might have some hiking shoes here that will help if not overcome your problems with your feet. He introduced himself as Roger Caffin.
Luckily we both have the same size foot. :)
Roger sent me up a couple pairs of hiking shoes to try, one of the was the GoLite Timber Lites. As soon I tried them on I knew these are the shoes for me, Straight from the box, the fit where perfect.
Luckily they had arrived just in time for a two week hiking trip I was heading out on with my Crocs. I left the crocs behind. First day's hiking 9km of hilly terrain, comprising of a small section of rock climbing, the following day a 22km hike, first 11km all uphill. Not a blister in sight. My feet felt great.
I continued on with my hike with no foot discomfort. Last week upon returning from my Hiking trip, I went and climbed a Mountain nearby known as Mount Walsh a very steep rocky climb to the top. I'm very impressed with the GoLites, the grip on the rocks was incredible. I never owned shoes that gripped like these.
Thanks GoLite and most of all Thanks Roger, if it was not for you, I'll still be suffering with my foot.
