Purchased partly by accident, partly by impatience, the Peak 1 Microstove is actually a pleasant surprise. It's easy to light, easy to control, fairly fuel efficient, and realitively inexpensive (only $20 at the local Walmart!).

In my testing, I was able to boil 1 quart of water in 4:00 cover without any type of windscreen, though it was in calm conditions. The three pot supports have teeth which help it grip onto textured pot bottoms easier. The stove and canister seem fairly stable as well, though it's primarily been used on flat terrain.

The biggest downside has to be the weight. At just under 6.5 ounces (scale measures in half ounce incriments), it's fairly heavy for the folks on this site. That is primarily why I'm rating it a three instead of a four.

This was my very first stove. Like the above poster, I got it at Wal-Mart for $20. When I first got it, I was pretty impressed. It is relatively fuel-efficient, has good simmer control, and burns hot. Also, I like how the three pot supports are so stable.

To reduce weight, I took the extraneous plastic off, and it’s 0.5 oz. lighter.

The only disadvantage to this stove is the stove’s weight. At 6 oz. after reduction, it’s twice as heavy as the average canister stove. Despite this bomb’s weight, I am not getting rid of mine. It is tough and reliable.

If you are on a tight budget, and don’t mind an extra 3oz. for $20 less than an MSR Pocket Rocket, this stove is great.
