Recently got the REI Kimtah eVent parka and on a Ruby Mountains, Nevada backpack found it to be as good a wind jacket as it is a rain parka.

The sale price was $159.95 which is 30% off the regular $229.95 price. I have wanted this parks since it first came out and got a break on teh price.

The design and details are good, with even an internal headphone cord opening at the top of the Napolean pocket.

However the design needs to place the flapped, zippered lower pockets at the height of the Napolean pocket (eliminating the Napolean pocket) so they can be accesed when wearing a pack with a hipbelt. And at that location they can also be unzipped and be used to vent the parka. That's the best function of flaps over zippered pockets. That's why I gave it a 4 out of 5 rating.

I bought an XL instead of a Large so I could wear my light down sweater under it without binding in the sleeves. Works great that way and in my experience is good for well below 30 F. with a proper base layer.
