They have good prices and stock some brands, like Integral Designs and Golite. I've ordered from them a number of times. Once, I ordered the Integral Designs eVent Gaiter. There was only one gaiter in the bag. I contacted them and they quickly sent the second gaiter. The problem was taken care of. I've been very satisfied thus far.

Ordered only once. No problems whatsoever. Would i order from them again? Yes. So, i'll give them a 4 or a 5.

Did in fact order from them again. Big mistake? Not sure yet. Experience thus far has not been good and at this point is only getting worse. This experience is a ZERO and heading towards negative numbers, hence my rating of a '1' (i couldn't give a ZERO or a negative as the Rating System doesn't allow such). Hoping that it may yet turnaround and i can revise this Review yet again.

Just thought that it was important to make mention of this at this time for the benefit of others.

Some progress being made so i'm "up-ing" my 1 to a 2, as i'm going to believe what they say they will do.

Back down to a 1. Stringing me along. Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! (as Gomer Pyle, USMC used to say).

20 calendar days now. Multiple ship dates come and gone. No emails yet indicating shipment or reason for not shipping.

I must say though that C&C seems to very good at telling me stories though. I'd give them a 5 in that department. Unfortunately, at this point in time, in my experience they are a minus one. Caveat emptor! Buyer beware!

21D - rcv'd email w/tracking #.
upgraded me to 3d shipping at no extra charge (unfortunately, it spans a weekend, so not much difference in delivery time, but it's the thought that counts!). So, 29jan is the expected Fedex del. date.

They now have 5 more ID eVENT Crysallis bivies in stock and they tell me that they are going to start stocking larger #'s of ID items of all types & plan to become one of the largest ID retailers in the USofA.

Much of this delay could be ID giving C&C "bum" info(???), and C&C just telling what ID said. Someone did in fact get their expected ship dates wrong. ID or C&C? Don't know, but it wasn't me!

I have made several orders from C & C. They were easy to deal with, shipped products quickly. I needed to change one order before it had been fulfilled. They accommodated me. I am rating them as a 4 rather than 5 because I am saving 5 for companies that go above and beyond such as tarptent.

I ordered a poncho/tarp on Dec. 21, 2006 and still have not recieved it yet. They are good at telling stories. We'll see if the last one holds up. They don't respond to e-mails, I'd call them if you have any question that you actually want to know the answer to. I am giving them a 2 because I like their prices even though they lie too much.

Update: I got an e-mail saying that it shipped today, still to long if you ask me.

They should be like and indicate what they have in stock on each items page.

They also need to give honest answers about when an item will ship. Just saying "today" and then failing to to do so only lowers my opinion of a retailer.

Note: I am not necessarily recommending these guys, after all the stuff I've read recently, but I ordered from them Monday night, and received it on Friday. So, I must say that my personal experience with them was very positive. Would I order again? I'm not sure, based on the stuff I've read, but I would definitely think about it. YM definitely MV,caveat emptor, etc., etc.

After ordering Integral Designs products from them twice and receiving nothing but empty promises about shipping dates, I too canceled and went elsewhere. They advertise great prices, but it means nothing if they do not have the items in stock and cannot tell you when they will have.

I ordered golite reed pants and a poncho tarp, and didn't hear from them for a week. I emailed and in a quick reply they said one item was backordered but would be in soon. I did get both items as advertised not too long after that.

Maybe this company may be overloaded, or not have enough systems in place to deal with stocking issues, but I do not think they're out to screw anyone over. If you're in a rush though, you might want to call first, or go somewhere else. Otherwise, for me the price was worth the wait.

Terrible customer service.

I placed an order. After hearing nothing for a few days, I emailed to inquire about the status.* I was assured that my order would ship "by the end of this week, maybe Monday." Monday comes and goes. Another entire week passes. On Tuesday (day 14) I email again to inquire about the status. I receive no reply. On Wednesday I phone, and get the voice mail. Later that day they email to let me know that the item is back-ordered, and they "recommend cancelling [sic] the order at this point."

* I needed the item (a tent) for a trip on which I would be leaving in three weeks. So of the 24 days that I had to find the tent, they wasted 15 of them. Now I'm stuck paying for UPS Next Day Air from somewhere else.

IIn July I ordered a Golite Backpack and decided to return it within about two weeks of arrival. It has been over a month since I shipped it back and I've yet to see a refund. Three of my 4 emails have been answered, but none offer any clear indication of when this will be resolved. I will never do business with this company again.

UPDATE (October 16): Recently I was credited on my credit card for this purchase. It took over six weeks to bring closure to my return. With this in mind I am raising my 2 rating to a 3. As mentioned before, I will never do busuness with this company again.

A four out of five would probably be more accurate considering how great many other companies are about fast shipping. I ordered a BA Pitch Pine and received it 9 days later. To me, well worth the wait for the savings. After reading the company reviews here and elsewhere I was skeptical I would even receive the bag. I saved well over a hundred dollars so have no problem giving a five, but then I didn't need the bag immediately. Also, like many people report, several days after placing the order I hadn't received a tracking number or an order status update so I emailed them and they promptly emailed back saying that I would be getting a tracking number soon. A couple days later I got an email with a tracking number and now I have the bag! An interesting note is that the bag appears to have been drop shipped directly from BA. Again, I don't have a problem with that considering the savings.

Tough company to deal with. Most of their stock they drop ship direct from the manufacturer so although you may see something and put it in your cart and order it, it will not be currently available.

They do NOT price match although they claim they do (caveat - will not price match if it does not make sense to them).

Not recommended when there are so many other viable options available.

I give them a 2 only because Diane does respond to e-mails.

I have ordered several items from C & C in the past few years. All took longer than a big name company I use primarily but all showed up in a fair amount of time! Will I order from them again. Most certainly. Do I think they use drop ship as a means to keep overhead down due to low inventory. Most certainly. The consumer getting the item in a sort of third party way is what I feel the delay in getting orders is due to.

Ordered an Exped Wallcreeper at a great price. Shipped right away. Arrived well packed and in perfect condition.

So, I would use C&C again readily.

And the Wallcreeper is perfect for what i need. Already had a Rock Wren but needed one in synthetic.

Rating: 5 / 5 is under new ownership now and taking customer service very seriously. I made my two purchases at the retail store, happy to find what I wanted at decent prices. I had a warranty issue with my boots and I was taken care of pronto.
The owners answer the phone and have responded to my email inquiries the same day I sent them. They are also interested in and respond to customer feedback re gear or service.

Additional discounts can usually be found on the website or facebook account.

All good!
