What I liked:
Easy to make, boil 12-16 oz water (depending upon how runny you like it) pour it in, reseal it, stir / squish for 10 minutes, Viola! Easy cleanup, reseal, repack, repatriate.

The taste is good, actually tasting like Sweet and Sour Pork.

What I didn't like:
Salt is high, at 88% of RDA for this single pouch. I would rate this a 4 if the sodium level was lower.

I do believe they can make a quality good tasting meal without the high salt levels.

Mountain House Rasberry Crumble on 01/16/2007 17:37:36 MST Report Post Print

Rasberry crumble is easy to make with just the addition of 12 oz of water and time. The rasberries rehydrate very well and are an excellent blen of sweet and sour. The Crumble is a choclate cookie/graham cracker crust to be sprinkled on top. Taste wise the entire meal is excellent. It's so good I've bought it to make at home in order to just get a taste. Once you try it, you may find a reason to get out more.

This meal actually tastes like sweet and sour pork. I have no complaints save price which is nearly as much as a restaurant meal.

One of my favorite Mountain House meals, albeit a tad too sweet for my taste; too much pineapple, not enough sour sauce. Nonetheless, it makes a great motivator to get to a dinner spot when I know one of these meals is next up on the menu.

If I could, I'd add more rice to it to stiffen it up a little bit.

Remember, the USDA RDA's were developed for the average city-dwelling citizen, not for backpackers burning 6000 calories a day and sweating liters.
