I started out using these as camp / spare shoes at Philmont, then my "real Hiking Boots" split. I finished 50 miles in these , and liked them so much they are the only thing I hike in now.
At a hair over 1 lb each (size 13), these low height "boots" feel great and I've yet to turn an ankle or feel unstable in them. The outside is leather and nylon, and nylon mesh lining, with a Vibram sole. I'm actually on my second pair now, and expect I'll be on a 3rd pair in the future.

If you're looking for a lightweight reasonably priced (~ $70 - 80), check these out.

Ditto. I am about to head to the REI nearest me where they are on sale for $57 (Jan. 5) It will be my second pair having switched over from the Montrial Vitesse (see above). I had avoided this shoe because it looked narrow and I had heard that said about them. I have a width "D" and they fit well. Very comfortable. I use foot beds. My wife uses them, too, and she has a "narrow" foot, so as always try them on for fit!
Since I wrote this, I made a bad mistake. I was replacing a size 11, but the 10 1/2 fit me better, so I bought it. Worked great for the first couple of days on the trail, but eventually my feet swell and the shoes are too short, especially on the down hills. My left foot is bigger and my toes paid the price. The 10 1/2 work fine around town, but not on the trail. So, try a half size bigger. See how they fit.

Shoes are a very personal thing, so it is very hard to use a rating by one person and apply it to another.

Things I like:

Dry very quickly, and I wear them on stream crossings
Very breathable (which is why they dry quickly)
Durable
Vibram soles protect feet from feeling rocks
Toe is hard enough to protect toes, but not so hard it is uncomfortable
Have "normal" shoestrings (not the fast type made of kevlar, which are difficult to repair when broken)
Good looking shoe that comes in outdoor colors

Things I don't like
Vibram soles are heavy

Salesman at local mountaineering shop recommended them. They work great for four of us for mild weather hiking and backpacking up to 25 lbs. Very breathable, dry quickly, good foot protection, no twisted ankles. A little heavy but we like the thicker soles.
