This is not the lightest, largest, or best built lightweight tent, but it is the cheapest. At $25 - 35, found all over the net including ebay, it is a good choice for a 1st trial tent if you're not sure you or someone else wants to get into backpacking.
It's reasonably well built.

The weight is workable, starting out around 58 ounces, but pretty easy to drop to 48 - 51 oz by replacing the steel stakes with aluminum ones and eliminating some of the over packaging.

Further, it claims to be a 2 man tent, but you'd need to be 2 smaller framed people to be comfortable, or cozy.

Again, your getting a reasonable tent you really don't care if you tear up because the price is right.

After reading the first review, I had to check out this tent. It had amazingly good reviews on the web in general, and I'm a sucker for a bargain, so I picked one up. After leaving it up during a rainy night, the next day there were puddles in the front sides where the water came in throught the zipper. There is no protection over the front entrance so the tent could be modified to protect this area if you wanted an all weather tent. For fair weather or light rain it would be fine. It is about a 1.5 person tent width wise. The tent weighs about 3# and the guy lines and stakes would add a few oz if you added your own lightweight choices here. The hoops for the structure are cheap but work. Don't know if it is worth trying to modify this area for weight savings or strength. For casual camping or trial backpacking in moderate weather, it is a bargain.
