A 5x10 monocular. 0.7 oz. The size of a large pen. Clips to your shirt pocket. A pair of binoculars would be nice to have but the lightest pairs are about 1/2 lb, so a bit of a luxury for the ultralighter. The mini quick is so small and light that there is no reason not to take it. Useful for scoping the trail ahead, looking at wildlife, etc. This little unit will set you back about $120, but it's a zeiss and so has excellent optics. It has good eye relief too and you get the full field of view even with eyeglasses. It does have limitations, but these are more a function of it being a monocular, compared to binoculars. Because of it's extreme light weight, excellent optics, and reasonable price (for a zeiss), I give it a 5.
