Bought this hat some time ago and its a great piece of gear. Evan at Black Rock has been great to interact with. Responsive to answer questions. Everything you'd want from a vendor.

The hat is unbelievably warm. With the down insulation it is warmer than wool or fleece stocking caps i've used in the past, at a lower weight.

I've worn it down to the high 20's F and have been plenty comfortable. I've worn it while snowing and it has shed snow well and handled light moisture just fine. Used for both sitting around camp, some hiking, and for sleeping.

Quality of construction is outstanding. Looks great. Fit and comfort is really good. I've had it for over a year and it has held up perfectly. No down leakage or obvious wear and tear. The product delivered is as described by the manufacturer. Bought my dad one, and he raves about it too.

I think the only downside is that depending on what other gear you have on, you may get too hot, as it quickly warms you up. And if you are a bit anti social , you may,tire of answering questions from people about your really cool hat.

I bought this hat a year ago and it goes on every backpacking trip and cold weather dog walks.

My large weighs .9 oz. and warmer than anything close to that weight except maybe another down hat. It is light, warm, breathes well, compresses to nothing, and is more comfortable than any beanie I have ever worn.

Great for camp and early morning cold starts. I sometimes supplemented it with an ultra-light liner beanie that I use when it gets warmer. I have used it mostly in the 20's and above and it is now one of my favorite pieces of gear.

I just received my Down Hat in the mail a few days ago. I bought the red, size medium which fits my 22.25" cranium perfectly. Very comfortable, warm, and looks great. It's very lightweight (no scale used but to the feel) and excellent craftsmanship. And, echoing others' comments, really great customer service from Evan at Black Rock - personal email letting me know it shipped, VERY fast delivery (I got mine in two days), and a personal touch to the packaging too. I'm happy and feel like I made a great purchase. Look forward to using this week - it's freezing here in western MA!
