I have had the chance to test the Bloody Mary over the last few weeks, so this would be an INITIAL REVIEW, with more to follow.

The Bloody Mary, rather than a specialized bag which some of Valandre's bags are, is a great all-round bag for those who are looking for just one bag for a variety of temps and uses.

Valandre has implemented a very innovative collar design where two different collars can be swapped out, depending on temperature conditions, or no collar at all can be used. The Marie Antoinette collar is for conditions from 20 degrees down to an extreme rating of 5 degrees, where the half collar is suitable in the 20 to 40 degree range.

I found the comfort of the bag to be exceptional, due to its girth of 67 inches and its anatomically shaped baffles. The hood fits better than any other bag I've used.

I am 6'1" and weigh 210 lbs and am in excellent shape. I like lightweight gear but do not like to scrimp on features nor durablility. Valandre bags are meticulous in their construction and their goose down is second to none.

Valandre has the chance to hand select their goose down from local growers, and it keeps me warmer than any other brand that I've used. Plus, I can compress the Bloody Mary to the size of a volley ball. My huge Thor (-58) can compress in my 10" diameter Integral Designs stuff sack and will fit just fine in the bottom of my SCMII McHale pack.

I will be doing more testing this spring, but so far I am very impressed with the comfort and versatility of this bag.

DISCLAIMER: I am an authorized Valandre retailer.
