I do not use trekking poles, but I do use a SMD Gatewood Cape. I've been hunting for the perfect pole to replace what I'm currently using and finally, my search appears to be at an end.

This pole is some sort of aluminum alloy, weighing under 6ozs. It is 20 inches collapsed and infinitely adjustable in four sections up to 60 inches.

It does not use the funky twist locking system but does in fact incorporate a nice external foolproof and probably bulletproof lever locking system.

It is sold as a shooting stick, but comes with a foam hand grip and a removable hand loop for optional use in trekking applications. The rifle notch is also removable.

All this for only $14.95 at a surplus store or online.

I'm only giving it a 4 for now, until confirm the durability factor. It takes my full weight well without the smallest bottom section fully extended. If you intend to carry a pole that is 60 inches long, this may not be the most durable choice for you. I'm quite confident however, that it will hold up well for my application or for anyone needing a pole under 50inches +or-.
