This stove system has my highest recommendation. With a little user input it is pretty close to perfect. I am mainly an alcohol stove user but I have also enjoyed using the ability to use wood fires with this stove. I think its flexibility is best point. Also, with some fiddling it can store a Zip-lock container inside it to protect the cone. A stove that can simmer would be nice but you can always make a simmer ring or buy a featherfire xl.

I have carried this "stove" for 14 nights in the field now, and it has become my go-to stove. Even after 7 days of continuous rain, I was able to find enough dry-ish wood to cook AND have a cheery and warming fire. Easy to feed, stable and very wind resistant. 2 nights above bushline I managed to use it as a wind screen for my canister stove (partially opened windscreen so canister wouldn't overheat), and 2 nights in huts burning Esbit. It basically does it all! Pair it with a remote canister stove for the most fuel efficent setup I have seen so far!

Hi all! I bought the Ti-Tri to use for long-range bike touring + hiking to replace a much-heavier MSR Whisperlight with the 350ml bottle, in all but full-winter situations.

I managed to melt snow at -29C for 1.5L of tea using about double the alcohol ration, so something like 50ml, (which includes 10ml to prime it) filling the Snow Peak Mini-Solo twice. The first burn took 7 minutes to boil 750ml of inside tap water (+10C) taken outside. The 2nd burn was with compacted snow. Visit the Caldera site to see the photos---at -29C there is no guessing when it is burning as it gives off clouds of steam! This was with the worst alcohol I could find, rubbing alcohol with 20% water content.

I have also used it in similar conditions burning wood to melt snow for tea. While it is somewhat less efficient---the pot sits up higher and is not surrounded by the cone, it is still quite feasible, but much slower! I ended up wiring together 2 half-moon-shaped Ti scrap pieces provided as a scar prevention pad under the stove; this is worth doing if you are going to be burning wood in it on snow+sticks or wish to leave no trace on fragile ground.

Just took a Tri-Ti for the 1.3L Evernew titanium pot on a seven day trip in the Adirondacks. Mild conditions, little wind.

We (two of us) cooked 5 dinners and 2 breakfasts in the seven days/six nights. Breakfasts were 2-4 cups hot water for rehydrating grits. Dinners ranged from simple freezer-bag meals to more elaborate two-part meals, although little simmering was involved, mainly just heating things up. Each evening we heated an extra 1/2 to 1 cup water for cleanup.

We used almost exactly 15 grams of ethanol/methanol mix per person per meal, total 207 grams for all 7 meals.
