I bought these gaiters for what they were: a light weight (1.5 oz), breathable, water-resistant, stretchy gaiter that could keep junk and light rain/ground water out of my shoes. They do this very well. For the weight, they are durable and very comfortable. They won't fit over huge shoes (they are meant for trail runners), but seal very well over the more common choices for UL hikers. I love the stretchiness and breathability of them. They are really comfortable and work both in cool or hot weather. The Schoeller fabric does it job well. The price (I paid in the mid-$20's) is good, and they have no major downsides as long as they fit the shoes one is wearing. They are my most commonly used gaiter, and I only switch to my ID eVent shorties when I expect heavy rain or when there is serious snow. Like other relatively short gaiters, they go on before your shoes. They cord that goes under the foot wears pretty quickly (like most similar cords) and will need replaced after some use.

All in all, these gaiters are winners. They work well for most times of the year and conditions and weigh less than most of the other choices out there.

I can see that these are very good gaiters for all the reasons mentioned above. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with manufacturing quality control.

The lace-hook on one gaiter of a brand new pair I bought flew off the very first time I tried it on. Inspection of the parts showed that the rivets that attach the hook had never been set. Nothing broke; the rivets simply hadn't been set before leaving the factory.

I gave these gaiters a 4 out of 5 because I believe they are really good, but I had to ding them for the QC issue.

these are very light gaiters, but work as well as heavier gaiters on the market

fit is very good, the stretch helps the gaiter to conform to the shoe

you do have to slip them on before donning shoes, but that isn't a biggie

thus far mine have been holding up very well, if that changes- I'll change my rating :)
