A perfect companion to the Platypus Sport Bottle .5 Liter for alcohol fuel storage and dispensing.
Unlike the Platypus push-pull caps and the pop-top squirt caps found on sports bottles, these caps allow you to meter an incredibly fine and controlled stream of liquid, as might be required when trying to pour alcohol fuel into an alcohol stove without causing waste and spillage.
These spout caps are sized to fit a Platypus style water bottle. We use them on Platypus Sport Bottles for alcohol fuel storage. The cap makes it a simple affair to meter a small stream of alcohol fuel into your alcohol stove, without spillage.
A great companion for use with any alcohol stove that accepts alcohol fuel into its top ports. The spout is particularly effective for Brasslite alcohol stoves, because you can meter the fuel directly into the side ports of the stove.
When metering out alcohol fuel, make sure the cap is screwed closed tightly, then squeeze the Platypus bottle slightly to create some pressure out the cap as you begin to unscrew it. Then, slowly unscrew the cap until the pressure begins to be released. Now, try squirting/pouring the fuel from the bottle. Adjust the spout screw slightly to get the stream you want. It takes a little practice, but once you get it, it's a piece of cake to use - no mess, no spillage!
Whatever you do, don't open the screw spout top all the way, or it will release too much fuel to meter out a controllable stream.
