Article Summary:

Last year, Perseverance Mills (manufacturer of the Pertex textile brand) filed bankruptcy, ending a long reign of performance fabric manufacturing in the UK and leaving doubts about the future viability of Pertex fabrics of interest to manufacturers of lightweight soft goods made with Pertex Quantum, Microlight, Endurance, and others...A sunset technology buyout came from Mitsui of Japan, who manufactures eVENT for GE/BHA technologies. Pertex is now a wholly owned technology of Mitsui, who also assumes marketing responsibility for the brand. All Pertex fabrics will remain in Mitsui's camp, including Equilibrium, Equilibrium Stretch, Endurance, Classic, Microlight, Quantum, Blue, and the DWR technology Shield. This dispatch highlights what's new from Pertex in 2006, including 15 denier Quantum and the new, 2- and 3-layer Endurance SP waterproof-breathable fabrics.
